Not All Olive Oils are Created Equal

In 2011 Tom Mueller, one of the leading authorities on Extra Virgin Olive Oil, released his book "Extra Virginity: The sublime and Scandalous World of Olive Oil." In it he revealed a world of deception where low quality oils and artificial coloring were being passed off as extra-virgin olive oils to the American public. In Europe, you would be breaking the law if you were mixing refined oils with Extra Virgin and labeling it 100% Extra-Virgin Olive Oil. Unfortunately, here in the states we do not have strict regulations and thus there are a lot of fraudulent bottled Extra-Virgin Olive Oils on the market. Read more by Patricia A. DWC Thanks All for a Successful Girls’ Day & Night Out Event

The Downtown Westfield Corporation (DWC) thanks everyone for another successful Girls’ Night Out event held on May 11, 2017.  Almost 1,800 women pre-registered for the event from 183 towns and many more attended for a fun day and night of shopping, dining and entertainment downtown.  32% of attendees were from Westfield, and 23% of them were from the surrounding towns of Cranford, Garwood, Scotch Plains, Clark, and Mountainside.  According to Sherry Cronin, DWC Executive Director, “We continue to be pleased with this downtown event in attracting people from all over the region. The feedback has been very positive, both from the ladies who visited Downtown Westfield but also from the businesses who participated especially since we expanded it this year to be an all-day event. Beth Brenner and Jamie Lemberg, our dedicated DWC staff did a great job as usual coordinating with the businesses, generating advertising and social media posts, and executing a great event.  We couldn’t have done it without the help of many businesses and volunteers too”.
