(January 27, 2016) – On Tuesday, February 9 at 10:00 a.m., the Westfield Memorial Library will present, “Color Your World! Coloring for Adults,” and on Thursday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m., “1776 in NJ” will be presented. The library is located at 550 East Broad Street.
“Our hectic lives color our view of the world. Wouldn't it be great if you could just spend a few unhurried hours with a coloring book?” said Jen Schulze, head of Adult Services. “Whether you color inside or outside the lines, coloring is a fun and relaxing activity that allows you to get your creative juices flowing without the need for any artistic talent.”
The coloring patterns the library will provide are geometric, intricate, and abstract, designed to appeal to adults. All other materials will be provided as well. No need to register, just stop by and be prepared to have some fun.
“1776 in NJ: How New Jersey Shaped the Struggle for and over Independence” will be presented by historian Donald J. Peck. He will discuss New Jerseyans who favored and opposed independence. A highlight of the lecture will be the historic peace conference of September 11, 1776, held at the Billop Manor on Staten Island.
Mr. Peck is the author of several books about New Jersey history. A direct descendant of six signers of the Mayflower Compact, he is a Trustee for the League of New Jersey Historical Societies, past Commissioner for the Woodbridge Historic Preservation Commission, and past President and current Board member of the Museums of Perth Amboy.
The program is free and open to Westfield Memorial Library and MURAL cardholders. (MURAL cardholders belong to libraries that are part of the Middlesex Union Reciprocal Agreement Libraries. Check our website to see if your library participates.) To register for the program, visit the library’s website at www.wmlnj.org, click on the Online Calendar, or call 908.789.4090 option 0.
