Evalyn Dunn Gallery is excited to announce that they have been awarded Best Gallery in New Jersey for the 3rd year in a row by American Art Awards.

The AAA board, headed by president Thom Bierdz, chooses only one gallery per state per year. Their selections are based on years established, industry reputation, online buzz, location, size, represented artists as well as artist and client references.

A Tour of Notable Homes in Westfield, May 7

A Tour of Notable Homes, presented by the Friends of NJ Festival Orchestra, will be held Saturday May 7th from 10am-3pm. Distinguished homes representing a range of architectural influences and design sensibilities generously open their doors to benefit the NJ Festival Orchestra. Included in the self-guided tour are musical interludes, plant sale, refreshments, upscale raffles and - back by popular demand - a classic luxury automobile stationed at each location plus a "Drive Tesla for a Day" raffle. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 on tour day. Purchase tickets online at www.njfestivalorchestra.org. Tickets are also available at Baron's Drugs and The Town Bookstore in Westfield.

Juxtapose Gallery will host an opening reception and book signing for American Landscape Painter Gary Heise on April 29th from 6-9pm. Meet Author of From Footlights to Flashlights at Town Book Store, April 9

The Town Book Store will be hosting a Meet the Author event for Scotch Plains – Fanwood High School teacher, Gwyn English Nielson on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 PM. From Footlights to Flashlights is her collection of character-building plays for teenagers. The anthology includes ten chapters, each including a play focusing on a specific theme related to a challenge that adolescents often experience in today's society. Topics include morality, identity, peer pressure, love, inequity, manners, miscommunication, sexism, grief, and tolerance.

Her other published works include Torey the Turkey Goes Skiing, Serendipity and the Dream Catcher, and Teaching Love Life. At present, she teaches English, acting, and public speaking at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School and performs as a vocalist for private audiences.

Annual Library Used Book Sale, April 26-30

From April 26 to April 30, 2016, the Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library will be holding its annual used book, dvd and cd sale. The book sale financially supports the Library and activities such as the Children's Programs and the Museum Guest Passes.

The Friends are seeking volunteer workers, donors and customers. In addition to the sale dates, the Friends seek volunteers during the donation and sorting period from Thursday April 21 to Tuesday April 26, and to box the unsold books after the sale ends at 1pm on Saturday April 30.

Call for Art from High School Students for Gallery U exhibit in May

Union, Essex & Somerset Counties house a number of talented youth ready to let their creative ideas loose onto the world. Gallery U in Westfield, NJ, is looking to facilitate this process by offering local high school students a unique opportunity to showcase their talents through the exhibition Student Life: Artwork By Union, Essex & Somerset County High School Students.

This special exhibition will be comprised of artwork of various mediums and styles by high school students in Union, Essex and Somerset Counties. 50% of the proceeds for artwork sold will paid to the student artist and 50% will be donated to the art department of the high school the artist represents. Student Life will be on exhibit through June 6, 2016.
