Westfield Memorial Library presents Pay Less for College

(October 3, 2016) – On Wednesday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m., the Westfield Memorial Library will host “How to Pay Less for College: Need Based Financial Aid – FAFSA and Beyond the FAFSA – Merit Scholarships.” The library is located at 550 East Broad Street.

David Twersky, an Independent Educational Consultant and the founder of College Link Consulting, and Manita Bhardwaj, an Education Counselor, will lead the discussion to help prepare both students and parents to understand the financial aid application process.

Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library awarded Friends Group of the Year

(September 28, 2016) The Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library was recently honored as the “Friends Group of the Year” by the Libraries of Union Country Consortium. The library is located at 550 East Broad Street.

Since the group’s inception in 1972, the Friends group has donated more than a million dollars to the library. Some of the services they sponsor include Books on Wheels, which provides specially chosen library materials for homebound residents and the Hale Speaker Series, which provides the community with four lectures a year by prominent individuals with connections to Westfield.

Westfield Fencing Club Registers for 23rd Season

September 2016 -- The Westfield Fencing Club, now in its 23rd. season, is currently registering students for the 2016-2017 session for classes and bouting for beginners, intermediate and advanced fencers.

The sport of fencing received a great deal of notoriety in the area this summer when Dagmara Wozniak, a 2006 graduate of Colonia High School, was a member of the Bronze Medal winning US Women’s Saber Team.  This accomplishment was of special significance to Ron Margulis, head coach of the Westfield Fencing Club, since Dagmara was his student for 2 sessions when she was a youth.

Bring the kids downtown in their costumes to trick-or-treat in the retail stores and restaurants throughout Downtown Westfiel from 12pm to 2pm.
