The New Jersey Festival Orchestra has unveiled plans for its 35th anniversary season. Audiences can expect a series of dynamic musical celebrations to rival anything in New York City. The 2017-18 concert series entitled “Voices of Distinction” promises five spectacular programs centered around words, stories, and music.

The season celebration begins dramatically in October with Serenades to Music, sparkling works by Vaughan William and Mozart and featuring internationally acclaimed virtuoso Stefan Milenkovich performing Paganini's B minor violin concerto, one of the most dazzling scores ever created for the instrument.

Audiences are invited to celebrate the holidays in December with Return of the Holiday Tenors, featuring last year’s darling, award-winning tenor Cody Austin. Cody returns with friends to present a selection of renowned tenor fare, symphonic pops and wintertime favorites guaranteed to make the season merry.

The festivities continue on New Year’s Eve with Puttin’ on the Ritza superb revue of American musical theater classics presented in glorious symphonic splendor featuring renowned guests direct from the Broadway stage and beyond.

The anniversary programming continues in March with one of opera’s most enduring tales of unrequited passion: Puccini’s Madame Butterfly. A cast of internationally acclaimed guest performers assembled from Maestro Wroe’s extensive contacts in European and American opera houses joins NJFO to present, acted and in costume, this most heart-rending of stories, breathtakingly beautiful from first love to love child to tragic end.

The 2017-2018 season comes to glorious conclusion with a musical portrait of London with In London Town. The sounds of Big Ben, the colossus of St Paul's Cathedral, the hustle-bustle of Piccadilly Circus, the vast horizons of this mighty city are all captured in works by British icons Elgar and Vaughan Williams.

TICKET INFORMATION

Apart from the season opening concert at Morristown St Peter’s Church on Friday October 13 at 8pm, performances will take place on Saturday evenings at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield and on Sunday afternoons at Drew University in Madison.
