New Boutique Workshop in Westfield Brings Out Anyone’s Inner Artist

New Boutique Workshop in Westfield Brings Out Anyone’s Inner Artist

Westfield, NJ residents now have a new way to express their passion for DIY design and styling with the opening of AR Workshop at 226 North Avenue West.   An extension of the popular NC-based design company Anders Ruff, AR Workshop is a  hands-on boutique studio and store where visitors can create their own handmade,  mixed-media pieces – everything from framed and plank wood signs, to canvas wall  hangings, to chalkboard art, pillows, décor and more. And it all takes place in guided workshop sessions that allow customers’ creative juices to flow, while still ensuring consistent, high-end results.

Taking the trend of creative, interactive parties (think of the popular “wine and painting” studios) to a fun new level, AR Workshop Westfield lets visitors work from customizable patterns and templates that can fit virtually any taste or style. As a result, no two pieces  – or projects – are the same. But the approach enables anyone to produce beautiful,  “Pinterest-worthy” artworks they can be proud of. The environment itself is also designed to inspire and delight – with a warm, welcoming  atmosphere that feels almost more like a lounge than an arts and crafts studio.

Accommodating everyone from individuals and couples, to larger groups and parties and even corporate events, AR Workshop Westfield is a place where inspiration and instruction meet – with a fun, fresh DIY flair. To learn more, visit  www.ARWorkshop.com/westfield

New Construction Brings Luxury Rental Apartments to Downtown Westfield

New Construction Brings Luxury Rental Apartments to Downtown Westfield

There are three new and exciting building projects currently under construction in Downtown Westfield that promise to bring new rental options and foot traffic to our downtown commercial district. All of these buildings are transit friendly, conveniently located within easy walking distance to the train and bus stations, and offer great appeal for a wide variety of renters -- including young professionals, empty nesters, and single parents who want to remain in the area. In addition, all three properties represent significant investments in our future, are modern and architecturally appealing, and blend into the downtown character. They represent improvements to currently underutilized properties located at highly visible locations within our downtown area. They will provide easy access to the goods, services and entertainment that Downtown Westfield provides as well as parking.

333 Central - Pictured above, a 70-unit, four-story luxury rental building will be opening soon at Central and South Avenues. With easy access to Westfield's train station, this transit-oriented multi-family structure is sure to attract professionals and local empty-nesters looking to downsize. With a completion date set for spring 2017, this 126,340 square foot property will feature 70 luxury one and two-bedroom rental apartments with enclosed parking, a lounge with a wet bar, a gym, yoga room, and two rooftop lounges. Apartments will have 9-foot ceilings, hardwood floors and stainless steel appliances. Some apartments will also have a den and/or a private terrace. The building is pet friendly. Chez Catherine Renovation Nearing Completion

Chez Catherine Renovation Nearing Completion

After 38 years, Chez Catherine, a Westfield institution, is undergoing a complete renovation.  In addition to the dining rooms, many improvements including a new heating and air conditioning system will provide a more comfortable and quieter experience year ‘round.

The restaurant welcomed the third owners in its history in October 2016 when Stephane Bocket, a familiar face and long serving Maitre d’Hotel, joined with partner Michael Cowan to purchase the business from Didier Jouvenet. Planning for the renovation began well before the temporary closing with big ideas and dreams. For years Stephane had been waiting his turn to run this French fine dining institution. His dream was to give it more of a feel of Provence.

Rumors on Social Media Can Be Damaging to Our Downtown

Rumors on Social Media Can Be Damaging to Our Downtown

Rumors can be a terribly damaging form of communication. Rumors spread on social media are no exception, and only serve to amplify the negative effects on people and businesses.

Recently our office has received an increased level of questions about store closings based on rumors on social media. Rumors about some of our downtown chain stores and restaurants closing are most often not true and we are baffled by who would start such rumors and why. The businesses affected are themselves confused about where the rumors started and are forced into damage control mode to convince customers they are doing fine.
