Community Engagement

Identifying, creating and providing quality programming so residents and businesses may actively engage in hands-on sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.

You may know us from...

  • Major Green Team annual sponsored events such as the Free Market, Earth Day, and park cleanups.
  • A series of videos educating residents about a variety of sustainable practices such as recycling, gardening, anti-idling, storm drain cleanups, and gardening. These were created in partnership with the municipality and Westfield High School students.
  • The Green Medallion program helping local businesses incorporate sustainable practices and amplifying their success with residents.
  • Green Career Day! This high school level Green Career Fair introduces students to future careers in the Green Economy. Listen to professionals explain what they do and how they support sustainability in our 4-part lecture series: Session 1, Session 2, Session 3 and Session 4

Ways you can make a change

  • Try making small steps to change your daily behaviors. There are plenty of suggestions on these pages!
  • Support local businesses that have a Green Medallion hanging in their window.
  • Participate in a Green Team sponsored event.

The Westfield Green Medallion program for businesses

Take simple actions to make your business more environmentally sustainable and earn a Green Westfield mMedallion. A medallion tells your customers that you are aware of climate issues and want to lead with eco-friendly practices. An action can be as simple as using a paper or reusable bag, converting to LED lighting, asking if customers want a bag instead of automatically providing one, just to name a few. This program is free and completely voluntary.
