AddamsFest is Coming to Westfield October 26-28

AddamsFest is Coming to Westfield October 26-28

It's creepy and it's kooky. It's taking over Westfield for 3 days from October 26 to 28, 2018. AddamsFest, a town-wide celebration honoring Westfield NJ native Charles Addams and his penchant for the macabre, will prove to be the destination event of the season with family-friendly events, lectures, exhibits, and film screenings.

Born in 1912 and raised in Westfield, Charles Addams was one of the country's premier cartoonists, with his work prominently featured in The New Yorker. His most successful creation, The Addams Family, was inspired by his surroundings in Westfield. The characters that began as illustrations grew into a television series, a live action movie franchise, a Broadway musical, and a highly anticipated Addams Family animated movie (coming in late 2019). What better place to honor Addams' talent and creativity than the town where he grew up?

Stay tuned as the "all-together ooky" events continue to unfold at www.addamsfest.com.

Thanks to all who made Sweet Sounds Downtown Successful

Thanks to all who made Sweet Sounds Downtown Successful

The 22nd Annual Sweet Sounds Downtown Jazz Festival sponsored by Downtown Westfield Corporation (DWC) was held each Tuesday evening in July and August. Thousands of people came downtown and enjoyed the performances, despite the unpredictable rainy season with two of the evenings being cancelled and two rain nights. Restaurants and dessert establishments particularly reported great crowds and sales. 37 different bands playing a variety of music were chosen by the DWC jazz committee in February.  DWC staff Sherry Cronin, Executive Director, Beth Brenner, Asst. Executive Director, and Jamie Lemberg, Digital & Social Marketing organized and promoted the festival. This year, the DWC piloted a roving brass band, Bon Temps Brass Band, which strolled up and down E. Broad Street on July 18 entertaining the crowds. The new Town of Westfield Media Council provided weekly video clips to assist with promoting the events on social media.
