Pet Portraits at The Farmhouse Store

Pet Portraits at The Farmhouse Store

The Farmhouse Store hosted artist Ben Lenovitz in the store on Saturday, July 21st as he painted portraits of customers’ pets on pizza box inserts. Lenovitz painted for 7 hours without a break and made a lot of pet owners very happy. All profits from the portraits were donated to Summit Animal Rescue Association, Inc.(SARA).

A wide variety of dogs (and one cat) visited with Lenovitz throughout the day. The Warsh family of Westfield brought in their French bulldog puppy Lulu. At just a few months old and weighing only a few pounds, Lulu was the tiniest visitor to sit for a portrait. The largest was Theo, a great Pyrenees owned by Theresa Caporaso of Clark. Theo weighs in at 172 pounds, is twice the size of his owner, and looked like a walking, fluffy, white sofa.

Theresa’s Italian Restaurant Renovates and Re-opens Friday, July 20 at 5pm in Downtown Westfield

Theresa’s Italian Restaurant, known for its creative Italian cooking at 47 Elm Street in Downtown Westfield, has been closed over two weeks for some fresh renovations underway. The newly renovated interior features updates in décor with soothing gray and yellow tones and new lighting along with a redesigned space. The prior ceiling has been removed and updated technological acoustical tiles have been installed as well as new heating and air conditioning units. These changes will allow for an enhanced dining experience with a more casual energetic vibe. The restaurant also has added a flexible private dining area that can accommodate groups of 10 to 70 people.

Owner and Executive Chef Robert Scalera is particularly excited about the new custom-built bar and server station. The restaurant’s dining room was designed to honor the beloved Theresa’s traditional cuisine and more refinements to the design will take place in the coming months. "Our loyal customers are very important to us”, says Robert Scalera. "All of the changes focus on continuing to give those customers a quality experience, while introducing ourselves to a new generation of customers. It's an evolution for the future of our business. The Westfield community has been very good to Theresa’s, and we know it will embrace our changes."

Chris Prasek Joins DWC as Summer Intern Thanks to a Westfield Foundation Grant

The Downtown Westfield Corporation (DWC), with assistance of a Westfield Foundation grant, has hired Chris Prasek for their summer intern position. The Westfield Foundation grants provide non-profit and civic organizations with financial assistance to provide summer employment to an area student.  The DWC has been fortunate to have this assistance available for many years.  Particularly during the busy summer months, the intern position is critical to downtown promotional activities such as the Sweet Sounds Downtown Jazz festivals, Second Sundays, Customer Appreciation Days, and the Downtown Westfield 5K & Pizza Extravaganza. Chris has been assisting the DWC in prior summers on a periodic part-time basis during jazz nights and the Pizza Run as well as taking care of the flower baskets on Central Avenue and the storefronts placed by the DWC.
