As we look back at the happenings in our downtown this past year, we can't help but remark on all the new businesses that have come to town and some of the existing businesses that have thrived and expanded. Despite some obvious challenges our downtown faces, take a peak with us at some of the positive things that have happened in 2017 (in alphabetical order)....
Amazing Lash Studio opened at 225 E. Broad St.
AR Workshop, a graphic design, DIY blog and shop, opened at 226 North Ave W. (next to Kennedy's Barber Shop).

Blende Custom Beauty opened at 106 Elm St. after completing a beautiful restoration.
Bella Organici expanded from their Cranford location to 519 South Ave.W. 
Brunella Portuguese Coffee & Deli opened at 615 South Ave. W. Facebook
Club Pilates Westfield opened at 225 E. Broad St. 
Cory Mathews salon for men opened at 309 South Ave. W. 
DIRT Clean Culture Beauty Shop opened at 519 South Ave. W. (at the circle). 
Energy Healing, offering Reiki and Aromatherapies, opened above Qdoba at 66 Elm St. 814.244.0695. 
Everlasting Haven Spa & Wellness Studio opened at 227 South Ave.W.

Hand Picked, featuring urban wear and Supreme clothing, opened at 107 Prospect St. (across from Bovella's). 908.654.1253.
JackRabbit Westfield became the new name of The Running Company at 123 Quimby St.
Janus' Closet, a fashion consignment shop featuring authentic designer handbags, clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories, opened at 112 Central Ave. (across from Starbucks).
Leo Charles Salon opened at 105 Prospect St. (formerly Maria Candida Hair Forum). 
Madeline Moss returned to Westfield in a larger space at 264 E. Broad St. (formerly Thinka Dinka).
Michael Robert Construction opened at the corner of South Ave. & W. Broad St. 
Midtown Authentic, a designer resale store, opened at 129 E. Broad St.
Mimi & Hill, a full service interior design studio and shop, opened at 227 Elmer St. 
Morano Gelato opened its first location in NJ at 116 Elm St.   
The Marketspace at Westfield, a holiday pop-up shop at 151 E. Broad St., was open during weekends in December.
Nick's Pizza & Restaurant opened at 311 South Ave. W., 908.233.9300.
1958 Cuban Cuisine opened at 301 South Ave W. (corner of Boulevard). 
On Point Therapeutic Massage opened at 84 Elm St., 2nd floor. 
Professional Physical Therapy opened upstairs at 105 Elm St. (2nd floor next to Bar Method, with elevator access). 
The Salad House opened at 113 Quimby St. 
Spice Bazaar, a casual Indian restaurant, opened at 114-116 Quimby St. 
Westfield Creamery opened at 258 E. Broad St., featuring Emack & Bolio's ice cream.

Moves, Expansions & Changes:
Adlers Jewelers expanded after 27 years and moved next door to 217 North Ave.
Allstate Insurance - Ron Bansky & Associates Agency moved to 502 E. Broad St.
The Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce moved to 212 Lenox Ave.
Chez Catherine, a Westfield institution for 38 years, underwent a renovation. 431 North Ave.W., 908.654.4011.
Golden Age Fretted Instruments expanded and moved to a bigger location at 266 E. Broad St.
Haircut Bar opened at 205 South Ave. W., directly across from CVS. 

Raritan Valley Gyrotonic expanded and relocated to 100 Elmer St. (the Felice Building, ground floor).
Rialto Theatre Westfield is now part of New Vision Theatres.

RE/MAX expanded to 137 Elmer St.  
Rock 'n' Joe Coffee Bar has new owners at 20 Prospect St. 
Roosterspin built a second location in New Brunswick right across from the train station. 251 North Ave.,
Urban Sewciety has expanded and moved to 307 South Ave. W., directly across from the south side train station parking lot. 
Yellow Bear Cleaners (formerly Next Cleaners) relaunched as a full service, eco-friendly dry cleaners at 335 South Ave. W.
Xocolatz Restaurant at 235 Elmer St. underwent a renovation.

20 new apartments are in the final phases of construction at 411 North Ave. W.
