A Girl Raised by Wolves: An Inspiring Memoir of One Woman’s Journey Through Sex Trafficking, Cancer, Murder, and More
The Town Book Store will be hosting a Meet & Greet for Cranford resident Lockey Maisonneuve author of A Girl Raised By Wolves: An Inspiring Memoir of One woman’s Journey Through Sex Trafficking, Cancer, Murder, and More on Saturday, October 20th from 1:00-3:00 PM.
In the late 1970's, in a gritty NJ town, an adolescent girl is unwittingly handed a one-way ticket by her mother to allegedly "visit" her estranged father in Florida. Young and vulnerable, Lockey Maisonneuve had no idea what was in store for her when she was sent to live with her vile and dangerous father. During the next several years her father violently raped, abused and mercilessly sold his daughter's body repeatedly in childhood prostitution. Eventually rescued by her naive, but well-intentioned, grandparents, she begins to pull herself out of her troubled past only to eventually find herself fighting breast cancer and dealing with the brutal murder of her mother. A Girl Raised by Wolves is the inspirational memoir of a survivor of some of the darkest circumstances one can endure in a single lifetime.
Lockey Maisonnueve is a certified yoga and meditation guide. She guides yoga and meditation classes for incarcerated men, people in drug and alcohol recovery, mental health patients and students in inner-city schools. Lockey’s unique experiences give her the ability to lead mindfulness programs in these marginalized communities.
Lockey knows from first-hand experience that healing trauma is not a one-and-done event. In her classes and workshops, she incorporates her own experiences with managing flashbacks, triggers, anxiety, and rage, as well as using her “Jersey Girl” sarcasm and wry sense of humor to connect with her participants. She is committed to supporting people in their own healing journeys.
Meet Lockey Maisonnueve at The Town Book Store located at 270 East Broad Street in Westfield (corner of East Broad and Elmer Streets). If you are unable to attend this event, feel free to call The Town Book Store at (908) 233-3535 to reserve an autographed copy of A Girl Raised by Wolves.
